Our client is well established and successful commodity trading business, specialising in non-ferrous metals and alloys and operating from several international locations.
As part of its ongoing growth strategy, our client has created the new role of Finance Manager to report to the CEO. Career prospects to Head of Finance/Finance Director or even CFO are a realistic possibility for the successful candidate as our client has enjoyed strong and consistent year on year growth since its inception. This role would be ideal for a commercially focused ACA or CIMA (or equivalent) qualified and ambitious management /financial accountant.
This is a fast paced, time sensitive environment and the role of Finance Manager will entail close contact with the trading team as they buy and sell metals and alloys across the world. Therefore, experience of FX Foreign Exchange in multiple currencies will be essential. In addition, the specific focus will be on finance and accounting including cash flow and management reporting. Our client works in partnership with several banks to facilitate and process large financial transactions – therefore experience of confidently working closely with banks, arranging lines of credit and timely transfer of funds will be critical.
Production of management accounts will be a core part of the role, analysing, reporting, and advising senior leadership based on solid insight and analysis to drive decision-making. In short you will operate as a trusted business partner.
You will implement financial processes, controls, and frameworks to manage the full financial cycle including liaison with an outsourced partner for the production of statutory accounts. The objective will be to bring this function in house in due course.
A creative and practical problem solver you will have a continuous improvement approach and excellent time management skills. You will be adept at managing strict deadlines with minimal supervision, operating at Board level and with excellent reporting, presentation, interpersonal and relationship building skills.

Working with the commercial team, you can carry out market and competitor analysis then work out the best routes to market. Having created your plan, your role then becomes sales-focused to land the contracts.
As for your background, our client envisages you will have significant experience of working in a senior sales role in the precast concrete industry. Understanding the logistics and movement of large precast concrete products will be helpful to ensure commercial success in this role. You will be both a hunter and farmer adept at both winning new business and also strategic account management.

You’ll have developed your communication skills to work with companies of all shapes and sizes. And that variety is one of the key features of this role. For example, you could go from talking to a small wine-bar owner about finance for new fridges to the FD of a £10m business wanting finance to purchase a fleet of commercial vehicles.
Your day-to-day role will combine generating new business from warm leads, which you’ll aim to convert into long-term accounts for you to manage. Getting to know your clients’ businesses will be critical to your success as you’ll be able to identify further opportunities to provide financial solutions to help them grow and thrive.
Our client’s industry works at a fast pace, and you will have multiple deals in progress at any one time (perhaps 30-40), which can go from initial contact to funds in the bank in a matter of days. As such, you’ll be able to flex your time-management muscles and enjoy your sales commission being paid shortly after the client is onboard.
As you rise through the business, you’ll then mentor, train and lead other sales executives to bring through the next generation of brokers in the business. And to top it all you will also benefit from an override commission on earnings generated by the team, as well as many other market-leading benefits.

Our client is a UK-based division of that sizeable multi-national company. It needs someone with your logistics and documentary co-ordination experience to support and assist the Documentary Operations Team to ensure all their contracts are executed in an efficient and timely manner. Our client's extensive portfolio of products includes steel materials, chemicals, oils, and large machinery.
Working from their North-West London facility, you'll ensure all contract files are received from the Trading Team in good order, you'll ensure all documentary and shipping instructions are issued on time - following the relevant Incoterm - and you'll co-ordinate with customers and suppliers worldwide to ensure that goods are expedited and shipped on time and in the correct manner.
Out client works with major shipping lines in the Far East, Asia, Middle East, and NW Europe routes, so you'll need to be someone who understands documentary requirements for different countries, including Legalisation/Certification/Conformity certificates. You will need to be able to provide these documents on time, including Invoices, Bills of Landing, Certificates of Origin, Insurance Certificates, Packing Lists and Certificates of Analysis.
Our client envisages you will have 2-3 years' experience in commodities, with the ability to understand Contracts and Incoterms. Experience with SAP would be ideal but not essential.
