Are you an experienced and creative mechanical design engineer looking to take the next step in your career? Our client, a mechanical design consultancy specialising in the automotive industry, is seeking someone with your skills to help them drive their business forward (pardon the pun).
If you've worked in the automotive industry for any length of time, you may have become pigeonholed in a particular area. Or maybe you're frustrated with the length of time it takes for your designs to become a reality - perhaps some just disappear into the supply chain, and you never hear from them again.
This role offers you complete ownership of the design process from the initial customer discussion, conceptual design phase, prototyping, design optimising, and final production. Your creativity in design problem-solving and your commercial skills in identifying new product opportunities will play a large part in this role.
In this position, you will lead design engineering projects and deliver innovative solutions for the customers' engineering challenges. You'll need to be able to think both creatively and logically when it comes to problem-solving. And you'll be expected to devise creative solutions that can withstand technical scrutiny. As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will also have commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for our clients.
To succeed in this role, you must have a degree in mechanical engineering and be proficient with SolidWorks and FEA. You should also have experience in the automotive industry, good communication skills, and customer service experience. Additionally, you should have strong project management skills along with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
