Are you commercially savvy with a strong customer focus? Do you thrive in a varied role combining inbound sales, account management, and customer support?

This is a hands-on, office-based opportunity for someone who enjoys being a first point of contact for customers, managing the sales pipeline from enquiry to fulfilment, and bringing a commercial mindset to every interaction. Ideal for someone from a smaller business background who is used to rolling up their sleeves and wearing multiple hats.

The Business

Our client is a long-established UK manufacturer of bespoke, made-to-order building products. Operating from a busy and growing facility in Walsall, they serve both B2B trade professionals and retail consumers. The business is on a journey of commercial transformation and is now seeking someone with strong account management and internal sales capabilities-someone who can drive conversion and support customer experience while contributing to process improvement.

Why This Role is Different

This isn't a typical "hard sales" role. Instead, it's a hybrid of account support and sales, with a strong emphasis on ensuring inbound enquiries are converted efficiently, customer records are well managed, and post-sale fulfilment is tracked closely. You'll also help alleviate pressure on the customer service team during peak times-meaning flexibility and team ethos are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for inbound trade and retail sales enquiries via phone and email.
  • Qualify and convert leads, providing accurate quotes and following up strategically.
  • Own the full customer journey-from initial enquiry through to order fulfilment.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the customer service team during busy periods (e.g. taking messages, chasing updates).
  • Build rapport with trade and DIY customers; segment and prioritise them based on commercial value.
  • Maintain and improve CRM usage-manage pipelines, log interactions, and capture customer insights.
  • Help identify trends and feedback from customer interactions to support commercial strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with internal colleagues across production, operations, and support.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong background in internal sales, account management, or customer support.
  • Commercially minded with experience handling quotations, margins, and sales pipelines.
  • Comfortable working in a smaller business environment-team player, flexible, and hands-on.
  • Confident phone manner; able to communicate with customers of all types (retail & trade).
  • High attention to detail; strong organisational and follow-up skills.
  • CRM experience essential.
  • Comfortable picking up the phone and contributing to a proactive sales approach during quieter times.

Career Development Opportunity

This is a newly scoped role with scope for growth. The business is exploring greater outbound trade engagement, and this role could evolve into a more sales-driven or leadership position over time-potentially overseeing a team or contributing to wider commercial strategy. A future commission structure may be implemented based on new business contribution.

If you're a confident communicator with a sharp commercial brain and a team-first mentality, this could be the perfect opportunity to join a growing manufacturer and make a genuine impact.
