QUALITY MANAGER - CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES

US $100-120,000 Excellent Blue-Chip Benefits

The Role:

* Collaborate with all functions to insure adherence to quality work processes:

* Manage QC from sample preparation to QC testing to data integrity in ERP.

* Maintain ISO / AS9100 compliance

* Handle NCMR /CEI process (non-conforming product and customer complaints/concerns)

* Oversee Customer Audits

* Work with other Plants Quality Managers driving improvement and standardization on all processes.

* Support Operational excellence programs, direct activities and manage site project management process.

EH&S Leadership:

* Lead a safety culture by example and engagement with the quality and operations staff.

* Ensure safety requirements are understood and adhered to in the laboratory.

ISO 9001 / AS9100:

* Manage the plant Quality Management System and ensure compliance with quality standards.

* Serve as site representative for internal, external and customer audits.

* Lead and coach the Quality team in successful audit execution.

* Participate as a member of the Corporate Audit Team

QC Laboratory

* Manage QC Lab & Quality Associates

* Ensure equipment is calibrated and records documented.

* Develop and maintain strategy for QC equipment reliability and testing capabilities.

* Manage Non-Conforming material process and support inventory control, including slow moving and expired material maintenance.

Customers/Suppliers:

* Serve as Customer Quality contact for audits, CI initiatives, etc.

* Drive for excellence in Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA) responses.

* Support customer requests as needed from a QA perspective (Certificate of Analysis C of A) issues, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Requests, Customer Complaint resolution (CEI)

* Own Processes for Customer specific needs (AS9100, QAKE, GMP, PPAP, PFMEA, PCD)

* Coordinate with site buyer to resolve incoming raw material concerns and ensure satisfactory resolution.

 

Process / Continuous Improvement:

* Serve on the Plant Leadership Team as the plant's overall quality leader / Lean Leader.

* Identify, monitor, and drive improvement in KPI's associated with customer quality

* Help lead, develop, and sustain a Continuous Improvement (CI) Environment including management of the Project Management process.

* Foster and mentor use of various RCA at all levels of the site

 

The Ideal Person:

 

* BSc degree in engineering, chemistry or related field

* 5 more years of experience in a Quality leadership role in a manufacturing environment

* Solid knowledge of statistic / Six sigma (Control Charting, SPC, Cpk, Cp, St, Dev, etc.);

* Green Belt or Black Belt certified preferred.

* Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001 requirements, AS9100 and IATF 16949 preferred

* Demonstrate strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

* Computer skills in Minitab, Query, Microsoft Office - SAP experience preferred.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational skills

    • Manage internal QMS audits and layered process audits.
    • Establish and support the development of the quality management system processes QMS.
    • Formally report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to senior management
    • Promote customer requirements and quality awareness throughout the organization.

    Requirements:

    • BS degree in appropriate field required ideally a four-year degree with a year in industry.
    • Five years + IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems experience.
    • Project Management experience ideally in the battery industry.
    • Experience with IATF certification (Automotive, etc.) Auditor Certification preferred.
    • Experienced in obtaining IATF 16949 certification and dealing with audits from the major EV Electric Vehicle automotive manufacturers.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
    • Skilled in working across multiple disciplines including Sales, R&D and Operations. 
    • Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
    • Able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot.

    The Lead Engineer is responsible for the lithium-ion battery separator expansion program.

     

    The Lead Engineer works with the major material and equipment suppliers to successfully start up operating lines in the US.

     

    The Lead Engineer will design and develop wet process PE lithium-ion battery separator coating processes and related tooling for the coating lines to be installed.

     

    The Lead Engineer works with suppliers on separator coating formulations approved for manufacturing.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    * Develop coating run instructions and procedures and implement on site.

    * Determine coating and test equipment manufacturing capability/test accuracy and recommend equipment upgrades, modifications, and/or improvements.

    * Document production solutions and develop KPI's for coating and slitting processes.

    * Writes new equipment procedural methods in easily understood format.

    * Determine cause and corrective procedures for failed coating runs.

    * Ensure specific projects are completed and delivered on time.

    * Ensure design concepts comply with customer's specifications and are manufacturable.

    * Support acceptance testing, qualification testing, and troubleshooting efforts.

    * Provide project leadership, work direction, and training to support personnel.

    * Establish standards of productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

    * Work with customers to resolve complex custom-designs and technical problems.

    Our client is an international manufacturer of advanced polymer materials and is expanding. They need a Mechanical Engineer for their Corporate Engineering Group in Rhode Island.

     

    The Plant Project Engineer participates and manages project teams to design, purchase, and install equipment.

     

    The Plant Project Engineer assists plants in troubleshooting and problem solving when called upon.

     

    The Plant Project Engineer designs new processes for capital projects and optimizes existing ones.

     

    Responsibilities:

    * Design new manufacturing lines and improve existing lines for plastics compounding facilities.

    * Determine process parameters that influence machine specifications in order to specify equipment such as extruders, mixers, dryers, pumps and bulk pneumatic conveying systems.

    * Design and create drawings for custom components such as chutes, platforms, receivers, hoppers, conveyors.

    * Automate new or existing processes using current technology.

    * Contact manufacturers and vendors for equipment required to support proposed designs.

    * 3D CAD design with a 3D first mentality using Solidworks.

    * Oversee construction of projects and sign off on acceptance of service/work required.

    * Provide assistance to employees in retrieving past and present project information.

    * Provide technical support for facilities worldwide and participate in maintenance as needed.

    * Prioritize and schedule project work and present project status to senior managers

    * Prepare project budgets and measure progress .

    * Review and approve purchase requisitions.

     

    Requirements:

    * BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.

    * 5 years on the plant floor experience focused on Project Management/Plant Engineering

    * Work experience in a plastics compounding environment ideal

    * Project experience on depalletizing projects or dust containment projects ideal

    * Experience automating processes and completing automation projects

    * Ability to evaluate production requirements and apply appropriate solutions.

    * Computer literate and knowledgeable in Solidworks and Project Software.

    * Travel up to 30%
