Kent (Hybrid Role)

You may be wondering why an organisation like a port needs a Business Development Manager.

And, on the face of it, it's a fair question. After all, they're a major British port. People have already heard of them and know what they do.

Or, at least, they think they know what they do. But you'd be amazed what they don't know.

Recently, our client undertook the most extensive programme of investment in contemporary times. This programme will see the operational land base capacity expand by 20%, deliver new refrigerated cargo infrastructure, provide a new 250-berth marina and create opportunity for further property development.

As such, there are massive opportunities for growth, and that's where you come in.

Clearly, cargo plays a massive part in the company's activities, and this will be your initial focus. The Port already has an extensive customer base for you to engage with and strengthen relationships. But they want to extend their customer portfolio to increase business with ferries, perishables, and construction sectors.

Coupled with this will be creating new relationships with logistics providers, hauliers, supply chain, and agency businesses within London, the South East and further afield through various activities to proactively seek and introduce new business to the Port.

During all your activities, there will be a constant undercurrent of actively promoting the Port through trade events in the UK and worldwide to increase awareness of its capabilities.

As for your background, you'll be a highly competent Business Development Expert with significant experience in the cargo industry in a port, haulage, logistics, supply chain or related sectors.

You will need an excellent understanding of the freight and logistics industries. In particular, the construction, unitised or ferry freight sector, Agri bulks or general cargo handling operations. Plus, you'll already have established relationships across the industry, particularly with customers, agents, and the cargo supply chain.

You'll also have solid marketing experience and be proficient in developing and implementing proposals in a highly commercial environment.

So, if you'd like to take on this fascinating challenge, please indicate your interest by emailing your CV, quoting reference LX 1232217

    £50,000 Benefits

    East Midlands (Office Based)

Commutable from Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Banbury, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, North Buckinghamshire

    No, that isn't a typo.

Our client is offering a starting salary of £50,000 for a graduate trainee role.

Now, hold your horses, graduates. Before you yell, "Cha-Ching" and fire your CV to us, there are some very specific requirements you'll have to meet to be considered for this role.

So, let's talk about you for a moment. You did well at school. Very well, in fact. We're talking A's across the board at GCSE and A-level.

Then, you must have graduated with at least a 2:1 degree in a business or finance discipline from a Top 10 University.

And now, you have your eyes on the prize.

Maybe you're thinking about joining one of the big investment banks. But then you have to live in London and deal with all that London stuff like tube strikes, people, and everything costing four times the price of anywhere else in the UK.

So, what if you could live that investment banker lifestyle out in the country instead?

Well, that's precisely what our client is offering.

As a Graduate Commercial Finance Broker, you'll have the opportunity to rapidly progress your career within a company that values hard work, drive, and tenacity. With their consultative sales approach, you'll be brokering commercial finance products, including complex lender transactions, and providing direct lending through their two lending arms.

But this isn't just any job - it's a chance to work for a dynamic and rapidly expanding hybrid Broker-Lender that has originated over £1 billion in commercial finance for 12,000 UK SMEs. As a member of their team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients and suppliers across the UK, develop meaningful relationships, and help businesses grow and thrive.

    What will you be doing?

Initially, you'll prospect for new business, reach out to potential customers, and develop ongoing relationships with existing clients. But as you progress, you'll take on more responsibility, managing deal flows and pipelines on your own account and training to become a qualified commercial finance broker.

Our client is looking for someone who is naturally competitive and driven and loves the prospect of unlimited earning potential, with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for sales.

They offer clear progression pathways with generous incentives for achieving KPIs, and top performers can expect to earn six-figure numbers in a relatively short time. Plus, they offer quality employee perks, such as a gym membership, health insurance, and a company car. It's no wonder many of their graduate employees become homeowners within their first 3 years of employment.

So, if you're looking for a role with unparalleled earning potential and real growth and advancement opportunities, we want to hear from you.

Apply today and become a part of our client's dynamic and expanding team. Send your CV quoting reference LX 1883545
