Job Description

PROCESS OPTIMISATION ENGINEER -CEMENT

"Fantastic career development opportunity for degree educated Chemical Engineer"

£Very Competitive (Dependent on Experience)  + Bonus + Excellent Benefits + Relocation Assistance

Location: East Lothian, Scotland

Commutable from Edinburgh, Berwick upon Tweed, Dunbar, North Berwick, Haddington, East Linton, Musselburgh, South Queensferry, Livingston, Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, Bathgate, Relocation assistance may be available.

What do you know about cement?

If your answer is along the lines of "I once mixed some with my dad to fix the garage floor", then you're probably not the person we're looking for in this role. Sorry. Life isn't always fair.

However, if your answer includes words like Alite, Belite, Tricalcium aluminate, and Brownmillerite (without Googling "what is cement?"), then we're talking the same language.

As an experienced chemical process engineer, you'll know your way around a cement plant. You'll understand the various processes involved in producing cement in a 365/24/7 operation.

Our client knows as much about cement as anyone. They should do, as they've been producing it for many, many years.

But they do need someone to work with them to improve their processes at this particular plant. And those continuous improvement processes will be a core focus of your role.

Like all heavy engineering plants, they use significant amounts of power and are keen to continually develop company-wide power reduction projects to drive down their power consumption. Alongside that, they want to optimise their fuel consumption and increase the use of Waste Derived Fuels and Alternative Raw Materials to reduce their fuel spend even further.

So, those are examples of the large-scale and long-term projects you'll be working on alongside your day-to-day analysis of the process data to optimise machine performance and utilisation.

Due to the nature of this role, our client expects you to have a degree in chemical engineering and either hold or be willing to work towards an IOSH qualification and Chartership, which they will fully support.

They are also happy to provide relocation assistance to move you to their local area if you live further away.

There's much more detail to discuss so please indicate your interest by emailing your CV quoting reference LX 855060.
