ENGINEERING PROJECTS MANAGER - CAPEX PROJECTS

Are you a Project Manager with experience in leading complex, heavy engineering projects?

 

If so, our client needs your skills as they have several major CapEx projects to carry out on their manufacturing site.

 

As the Project Manager, you'll follow the projects from inception to completion, working on the initial specification of the project's requirements then coordinating all the subsequent activities.

 

Our client is a well-known, global manufacturer and has significant resources and expertise from their central capital projects team to bring into your projects as required. While you may be involved in some process plant projects, your focus will be on the site infrastructure. As such, your background should include managing complex civil and construction projects.

 

The site is a 365/24/7 heavy process engineering operation, so managing the project works around the continuous production cycle will challenge your project management and communication skills. An appreciation of a wide variety of engineering disciplines i.e. electrical, mechanical, chemical, process control and optimisation will be critical to success and credibility in this role.

 

Our client envisages you having a degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical), ideally hold a project management qualification, and be fully conversant with the CDM regulations (again, a CDM qualification is preferred).

 

You'll hold complete budgetary control of the projects and need to demonstrate managing project budgets of £10m in your previous employment.

 

You will demonstrate a consistent track record of Capital Projects programme management including contractor selection and appointment, gained within a heavy industrial, multi-site, matrix organisational environment.

 

Demonstrable track record of project leadership via internal project and site engineering teams and external contractors/sub-contractors within a high safety critical, culture.

 

In-depth understanding of planned preventative maintenance, continuous improvement and energy consumption.

 

Excellent financial management experience including capital investment budget proposals and approval process in line with strategic capital forecasts.

 

Excellent people management experience familiar with managing direct and indirect team; good persuasion and influencing capabilities, with the ability to challenge, question and collaboratively develop logical solutions.

 

Current or recent Capital Projects Engineering Management experience gained within a very high safety culture, multi-site, heavy industrial processing sector such as steel, chemicals, cement, construction materials, energy/power or similar environment.
