ASSISTANT ASPHALT UNIT/PRODUCTION MANAGER - (INTERIM UNTIL END OF AUGUST 2021. POSSIBLE INTERIM TO PERMANENT)

The Role:

As Assistant Asphalt Unit/Production Manager for the Asphalt plant, you will support the Site Manager and will be responsible for the day to day company safety, health and environmental standards and ensuring that all materials are produced and dispatched within expected budgetary constraints to meet or exceed customer expectations and requirements

The Assistant Asphalt Unit/Production manager is accountable for the day to safe operation of the unit with particular focus on cost containment and employee motivation and management. The Assistant Asphalt Unit Manager is responsible for ensuring that the team operate to safety, health and environmental standards ensuring that stock levels are kept to satisfy customers' needs and are of good quality.

* Responsible for the management of the unit through coordination with technical, production and business performance departments.

* Responsible for accurate maintenance of site records and the administration for the site, including producing reports as required.

* Accountable for the health and safety at the unit, with the aspirations for absolutely no accidents, you will be expected to provide a visible presence at the site on a daily basis.

* Ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping and safety and, delivering coaching to staff on near miss issues identified.

* Manage all unit staff on a day to day basis, developing a positive and productive workforce and addressing any performance management issues identified.

* You will be responsible for the planning and scheduling of maintenance work on the plant and equipment, as well as the management of plant breakdowns. Liaising with suppliers and contractors as appropriate, such work to be done allowing maximum productivity whilst ensuring a safe working environment.

* Additionally, you will also have accountability for the physical security of the plant site and equipment, ensuring that break-ins, theft and vandalism are minimised.

* A pro-active approach, you will be expected to continually seek improvements in production and performance and to raise such improvements and ideas with area operations management.

The Ideal Candidate:

* Available to commence asap. This role may become permanent for the right candidate.

* Ideally HNC/HND/ Degree qualified or equivalent in an Engineering, Mining or Science discipline.

* You will be able to demonstrate a strong operational unit management background gained within asphalt production. This is a prerequisite for the role.

* Excellent understanding of working within a process plant or a highly regulated Health, Safety and Environmental centric site will also be considered.

* Excellent asphalt production and operational planning.

* Experience of managing both permanent and contract employees.

* You will ideally hold a SHE NVQ Level 4, DAPS or equivalent; operations related qualifications plus NEBOSH and IOSH.

* You will be able to demonstrate inspirational leadership and the ability develop a team in achieving best in class standards.

* This must include experience of managing contractors and a sound grasp of all aspects of asphalt operations will be essential to success.

* You will also demonstrate a record of delivering excellence in safety, health and environmental standards within a similar asphalt or aggregates operation.

* An effective verbal and written communicator at all levels of an organisation and externally with customers and suppliers.

    · Support the development of medium to long range category plans and be able to influence the development of value delivery plans through knowledge of local needs and local supply markets.

    · The implementation of strategic sourcing and supplier management activities to deliver in year value as well as using knowledge of local needs and supplier capabilities to contribute to the development of long-range category plans developed using standard company tools and communicated through the appropriate governance models.

    · Savings delivery is a critical component of the role and Senior Buyer will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of reporting and management of value outlooks in standard company reporting tools.

    · Collaborate with project specific stakeholders to ensure change management is efficient and effective to guarantee sustainable value delivery.

    · Change management is a key challenge in the role and Senior Buyers/Category Specialists must have expert influencing and negotiation skills alongside key technical competencies relating to procurement transactional planning, commercial contract management and supplier relationship management.

    · As Senior Buyer/Category Specialist you will provide the first line of supplier performance management activities to ensure sustainable and secure supply of goods and services to support ongoing safe and effective operation of facilities.

     

    The Ideal Candidate:

    · Will be of graduate calibre /university degree educated, part or fully qualified CIPS, with previous multinational strategic commercial procurement, buying and sourcing experience.

    · Recruitment Solutions category management experience including agency workers and consultancy workers will be essential for this role.

    · Commercial procurement/tactical and strategic buying experience gained within a multinational matrix organisation.

    · Currently working as a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Specialist or Category Manager for a large matrix organisation such as an EPC Engineering & Procurement Contractor, Construction and Civil Engineering or other large Infrastructure Projects leader.

    · Experienced in sourcing, negotiation, and management of £multimillion spend categories.

    · Experienced in developing strategic category plans.

    · A proven track record of working with senior stakeholders across multiple sites.

    · Self-starter, with lots of initiative, drive, and ambition to succeed.

    · Confidence and capability Must be able to influence at all levels of the organisation through strong relationship management.

    The role of Executive Recruitment Consultant - for our Interim Executives Division (Part Time) will be a good combination of new business development, account management and both consultative and transactional recruitment. You will be working as part of a very successful and established team that enjoys a strong reputation in the marketplace. You will be involved in the whole recruitment lifecycle from developing client relationships, attending client visits, new business development, advertising, interviewing and managing your candidates through a client's selection process to the point where you place the candidate in a suitable role. You will have access to state of the art recruitment software and a candidate and client database that is proactively and regularly updated by our recruitment support team.

    You will be responsible for sourcing, screening, interviewing and consulting with candidates on their career aspirations as well as forging strong relationships with clients and companies to understand their requirements and corporate culture to ensure that you source the very best candidates for them. You will develop and expand your interim executives division and identify new business opportunities. You will also be expected to work as part of a team and develop excellent working relationships both internally and externally.

     

    THE PERSON

    • Graduate calibre with lots of drive, ambition, and commitment.
    • Experienced in recruiting managerial and executive level candidates.
    • Experience of recruiting interim executives advantageous
    • Experienced technical and competency/behavioural interviewer.
    • CIPD level 3 or 5 would be highly advantageous but not a prerequisite.
    • Psychometric test or coaching qualifications would be advantageous but not a prerequisite.
    • Articulate with the ability to build rapport and relationships with senior stakeholders and decision makers within the corporate marketplace.

    A consultative, solutions focused approach.

    Experience within the interim executives recruitment sector or experience of recruiting temporary managerial staff.

    Excellent customer service/key account relationship management experience.
    A hardworking and committed individual who is looking to contribute and progress within a growing company whilst maintaining their work, family life balance.
    Ideally you will have previous recruitment experience gained either as an in-house recruiter, or as HR/Talent Acquisition/Resourcing Manager or with a recruitment/executive search and selection consultancy.
