Our client is a market leader specialising within the heavy industrial minerals processing and manufacturing sector. Located at a large manufacturing facility, the Mechanical Reliability and Maintenance Engineer will be responsible from a mechanical (and not primarily electrical perspective) for the reliability and maintenance support of assets including cranes, kilns, conveyors, crushers and screening plant, washing, slurry and sand plants, loading facilities, grinding facilities, hydrating plants, mills, pneumatics, hydraulics, HV drives.

The Role:
The post of Mechanical Reliability and Maintenance Engineer is a key role within the mechanical engineering and reliability team at our client's production facility, working within stringent KPI and performance indicators. You will take the reliability function on a strategic and operational journey to a more proactive reliability focused culture. The focus will be on operational excellence and safety. You will work closely with colleagues in engineering, asset optimisation, plant management, electrical, lean CI, health and safety functions and HR and outsourced engineering services partners.

Your primary responsibility will be to identify and manage mechanical asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the processing facility and business performance. This will include loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management (LCAM). You will play a key role in tracking production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets, finding solutions to reduce losses or high costs. Working in full partnership with the processing/production operations team you will develop a plan to eliminate and reduce losses through root cause analysis.

In addition, the Mechanical Reliability and Maintenance Engineer will eliminate risk to ensure the achievement of organisation strategic objectives in terms of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality and production. You will be familiar with utilising tools such as FMEA, PHA, CA, SFMEA, FTA, ETA.

The Mechanical Reliability and Maintenance Engineer will also be involved in the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modifications of existing assets.

The Ideal Applicant:
Applications are invited from degree educated Engineering professionals with a strong track record in mechanical engineering and mechanical maintenance. You will also possess a NEBOSH certificate or QCF Level 4 in Safety Management. Most importantly you will possess a track record of leading, coaching and developing a team of engineering reliability and maintenance professionals. A track record of mindset and behavioural change to meet stretch goals would be particularly relevant. This experience should ideally have been gained within a heavy engineering or production processing environment. Proven experience in change projects and delivery of engineering projects including maintenance shutdowns ideally within a lean manufacturing CI environment would be preferable.
