CHEMICAL PROCESS ENGINEER

Location: East Lothian, Scotland

This is an exciting career development opportunity for a degree educated and ambitious Chemical Engineer to join the plant optimisation team of a UK market leader.

Working closely with production, maintenance, project and environmental management colleagues, you will focus on plant performance to enable the plant to achieve its Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) and performance objectives. The main elements of the role are to:

  • Maintain high safety standards and effectively coach and challenge others to work safely.
  • Monitor key process parameters, identify actions and define instructions to deal with deviations from targets.
  • Conduct day to day and longer term investigations to improve performance and optimise plant operations.
  • Implement systems, tools and procedures to optimise the production process.
  • Support, and where appropriate lead, multidisciplinary teams, projects, Plant Improvement Plans (PIP) and other initiatives to meet business targets.
  • Build and maintain positive relations with other teams to achieve the plant's goals

The Ideal Applicant:

  • Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or related subject

· IOSH qualification or willing to work towards.

· IChemE associated - working towards or willing to attain chartered engineer status

· At least 2-3 years minimum proven experience in chemical process engineering and plant performance improvement. Cement production industry experience would be highly advantageous.

· Strong IT skills, proficient in the use of Pi and MS office packages

· Environmental awareness in relation to developing a positive impact on the business.

· Strong knowledge of the physico-chemical products.

· Good knowledge of process control methods and statistical methods for troubleshooting.

· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

· Competent to assist the development of production operators to enhance the effectiveness of the process.

· High safety standards and a wide knowledge of Health and Safety management techniques (e.g. Risk Assessments).

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Persuasion and influencing skills

Treasury accounting and related aspects will be covered at Group level, so this is very much an operational CFO/Chief Financial Officer role.

     

    You will be university degree educated in business administration, accounting or (financial) controlling and an experienced Financial Director/CFO/Chief Financial Officer. You will have relevant finance management experience gained within a European/global matrix manufacturing organisation. Your experience will include drawing up balance sheets in HGB and IFRS and SAP FI/CO. Understanding of German GAAP useful. Strong knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Power BI.

     

    As for you, our client envisages you will be a German national with excellent English language skills. You'll be a confident presenter, as part of your role will be to deliver financial reports to the Southern European head office senior team.

As a key figure in the country executive team, you will work closely with the directors, senior managers, line managers and staff to educate, coach and support the correct application and continuous development of HR and company policies.

     

    As for your background, our client anticipates that you will have a degree in a HR discipline and be a member of a recognised professional HR body. In addition, you'll have led transformation and growth projects in your previous roles and can demonstrate resilience, strength of character, and a results-oriented mindset to your work. You will be a HR generalist and business partner already operating at Head of HR/HR Director level. This experience will have been gained, ideally within a multinational, matrix, and unionised environment within a highly successful commercial manufacturing and supply chain environment.

    Our client is seeking a skilled Personal Assistant to support the Director of a successful property development business focused on commercial property, residential homes and student accomodation. Our client is seeking a PA who can assist the director and owner of the business with management and coordination of both his personal, family and business affairs.
