Country Head of Road Transportation - 3PL Contract Logistics
COUNTRY HEAD OF ROAD TRANSPORTATION - THIRD PARTY CONTRACT LOGISTICS
US $ Executive Salary Bonus Excellent Benefits including relocation, flights, housing, school fees
Those two words will fill you with either horror or joy.
If it's horror, sorry, you're not the person we're looking for in this role. However, if your eyes have lit up and your brain has kicked into fifth gear after hearing them, you're probably the kind of person our client wants for this role.
Because it's like no other role you've had before.
Our client is a major player in global freight and shipping and wishes to develop its contract logistics function on the back of their freight and shipping operations in Vietnam. As such, they need someone with an exceptional skill set to head up the land transportation part of the operation.
And that's where you'll come in. To create this from scratch.
As the Country Head of Transportation Contract Logistics, your focus will be entirely on land transportation, and you will need to set the whole operation up, including:
- Transport network design
- Control tower
- Haulier/vendor relationships
- Fleet compliance and branding
- Health and safety.
As such, you must be able to demonstrate relatively recent, previous experience in setting up a contract logistics road transportation operation in an emerging market, e.g. SE Asia, including Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, China, India, Middle East, Eastern Europe or Latin America.
Our client has prioritised road freight/haulage as the first objective, then using barges, then rail. As the Vietnam operation is in its infancy, vendor selection will be critical to your success in this role. You will need to adopt a 3PL/4PL model, creating robust relationships with local vendors. In doing so, you'll be assessing which vendors have the ideal coverage for different parts of the country and the right fleet, or if they can scale up and invest in more fleet to support your contract transport operations.
Our client is realistic in their ambition for this project and sees it as a three to five-year plan to become fully operational. So, although your current location isn't important, you must be prepared to relocate to Vietnam. Our client will fully support this with all the resources available to a company of their size.
As you can imagine, this certainly isn't a generic role, and there's plenty more detail we need to discuss, so start the ball rolling by sending your CV, quoting reference LX 1035178 or call us on 44 (0)1905 381 320.
