Location: Suzhou, Free Trade Zone

Our client is the division of a NYSE quoted multinational specialising in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector.

As a result of dynamic and rapid growth they are seeking a university degree educated, English speaking and experienced Packaging Team Leader with experience of both primary and secondary clinical trial/pharmaceutical packaging operations, to join their large logistics and packaging operation in Suzhou, located in the Free Zone area.

You will report to the Suzhou based Logistics Operations & Inventory Manager and will also liaise closely with the Country General Manager and the rest of the site and operational team.

We’re seeking a capable and talented Packaging Team Leader with real integrity, drive and flexibility who will want to be involved in building something very special. An individual who is an experienced Packaging Team Leader, who is passionate about playing an active part in shaping the future of our client’s business – and who won’t hold back if they think they’ve found a better way to help a client, support and develop a colleague or processes in order to advance our client’s company and its operations.

The Role:

Manages and co-ordinates all technical and service aspects of a primary and secondary packaging project on behalf of clinical trial/pharmaceutical clients. This will range from initial discussions with clients, development of the project specifications, documentation aspects of setting up the project and management of all project related activities through to project/study completion.

  • Assessment of clinical protocol and other client supplied study specifications in conjunction with Proposals Group, Technical Group, Clinical Supplies, Operations and Procurement to help design Supply Chain solutions to meet the needs of the clinical trial.
  • Provision of data and technical input to the Proposals group to help them in the creation of proposals.
  • Working with the internal stakeholders and or client to finalize logistics requirements. This may include Project meetings at the client site or at our client’s facility in Suzhou.
  • Coordination and communication of all relevant activities, both internal and external to ensure that all services and products are ready for the start of the study or as required by the client.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring that activities come together in a timely manner to meet the client and study requirements.
  • Use of appropriate project planning tools e.g. Microsoft Project to communicate milestones and critical path activities and responsibilities.
  • Timely provision of reports and other information to clients and internal team.
  • Organization and delivery of training, including cross training of other members of the team where appropriate.
  • Provide input into the writing and review of departmental SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Participation in client meetings / bid support meetings / teleconferences, where appropriate.
  • Writing of documentation for the control of packaging operations
  • Work with Scheduling to optimize the production of clinical supplies – balancing the client requirements with best use of available production capacity
  • To oversee day to day operation and labelling and secondary repackaging team to ensure all processes are compliant to quality and SOP standard.
  • Manages the ordering, replenishment and delivery of packaging materials.
  • Working closely and support procurement department to formulate and meeting purchasing needs.
  • Working closely with finance and client service department to support monthly invoicing.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Biomedical Science, Pharmacology, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Distribution or other related discipline.
  • Relevant experience of clinical trial and clinical trial packaging, preferably to include handling complex protocols, key clients and business objectives.
  • 2-5 years or above of working experience in clinical trials/pharmaceutical primary and secondary packaging environment as a Team Leader or Supervisor or Manager.
  • Understanding of logistical country requirements especially when despatching across China or into the Asia Pac region.
  • Flexible and adaptable with strong customer management skills.
  • Able to analyse problems and define solutions.
  • Able to work under pressure and to support others within team.
  • The post holder needs to have good organizational, verbal, written and numerical skills.
  • Operations, Quality Assurance, Finance, Sales, Business Planning, Distribution Project Managers
  • Ability to deliver accurate and precise information to clients and internal team.
  • Good command of English (CET4 or CET6 preferred).
  • Good command of computer skills (MS Office).
  • This experience must ideally have been gained within China within a blue multinational pharmaceutical or clinical trials environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact well with all types of people in and outside of the company.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, independent, enthusiastic and driven.
  • Customer-oriented. Details-oriented. Teamwork spirit. Ability to work under pressure Communication skills.
  • Must be fluent in Chinese and English.
