Our client is a global player within the specialist energy, electricity and power generation sector.

As part of a strategic transformation of the procurement function moving to a shared service and category management model across its global operating units, our client seeks to strengthen its team with the appointment of an ambitious, university degree educated category and procurement management professional into the newly created role of Group Procurement Controller focused on supplier relationship management, governance, compliance and risk management.   This role can be located either at HO in Buckinghamshire or alternatively at the UK processing facility which is located close to Chester.

As Group Procurement Controller – SRM, Governance, Compliance and Risk Management, you will lead, and continuously improve globally compliant management standards through the development of procurement policies, processes, tools and techniques and oversight of a supplier management programme.

This will firstly entail procurement strategy development with the objective of minimising risk and maximising commercial results, operating at a level of best in class.

Secondly, the focus will be best practice development, whereby you will leverage leading edge procurement best practice, analysing developments and assessing how they can be exploited by our client to further value creation/delivery/capture/protection. You will ensure that is knowledge is retained and transferred throughout the Group promoting continuous improvement in all procurement practices.

The Role:

  • Ensure the global function’s compliance risks are identified, actions are managed to mitigate risks and Procurement remains fully compliant to each site’s key business processes.
  • Co-ordinate all relevant audit activity and manage the process to deliver successful outcomes. Support the maintenance and development of the current business system, ensuring each site has documented auditable procedures and processes for undertaking end to end P2P, sourcing and procurement activities effectively.
  • Develop and embed internal standards of control for process, policies, and governance to transform the function in delivering the procurement strategy and investment in its capability to deliver value.
  • Design and implementation of an improved supplier quality management programme, governance policy, functional quality levels and oversight of the application of strategic process and procedures, for end to end procurement.
  • Develop and manage the standard and ongoing quality assurance, supplier performance, quality and risk management programmes.
  • Manage controls assurance and risk management for the function and lead the quarterly management review providing feedback to the Procurement Leadership Team.
  • Responsible for creating, leading and influencing cross functional global teams in the delivery of functional capability projects and adoption of new ways of working.
  • Facilitate the approval and action planning of any agreed changes as the chair of the senior Procurement Lead Team Approval Board.
  • Align with a number of business functions and hold the primary interface and liaison with internal support partners to ensure ongoing compliance to legislative conditions which impact on procurement operations.

The Ideal Applicant will possess and will demonstrate:

  • University Degree educated. In addition, post graduate qualifications in CIPS or Master’s Degree in relevant subject.
  • Fast track career development to date within procurement gained within a global multinational matrix organisational structure.
  • This may include time spent in procurement analytical and category management including strategic procurement transformation and development projects.
  • Solid Knowledge of SAP Procurement modules and P2P process
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders and operating in different cultures, ideally across geographies
  • Able to working in a cross functional team and work autonomously
  • Experience of supplier performance management, strategic sourcing / category management
  • Solid knowledge of leading project management techniques and skilled in leading project teams on implementing the procurement strategy and delivering against appropriate objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in the development of supplier management programmes to mitigate risk in line with procurement strategy.
  • Experienced in delivering best in class operating standards.
  • Experience of creating and managing effective stakeholders’ relationships covering a number of subject matters.
  • Proven track record of writing / drafting procedures and work instruction that are simple and agile to operate to.
  • Experienced in setting standards for documentation management, knowledge management and administration which ensures adherence to regulatory obligations, to ensure corporate interests are fully protected throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Capability to manage ambiguity with the confidence to take accountability for creating a governance model, resource plan and delivery plan to meet the business requirements efficiently.
  • Ability to analyse compliance, quality and audit requirements and developing critical success factors, translating these into bespoke project and change management plans
