This is an exciting career development opportunity for a qualified CIMA/ACCA Management Accountant to take the lead, shape and develop their finance function during a period of dynamic growth.

Our client is a rapidly expanding, successful British business; exceptional customer service underpins everything they do on and off line.  As an iconic British fashion retailer, they design directional, embellished and aspirational styles for customers seeking a very polished look.  They are one of the largest wholesale suppliers of own label fashion to online marketplaces and high street fashion retailers to name a few clients.  They also have their own online/ecommerce/fulfillment logistics facility.   They pride themselves on offering a premium product at affordable prices, with an outstanding customer service experience.  They have also embarked upon a brand new direct to consumer channel from their own branded website and they are about to launch two new brands so growth is forecasted to be dramatic over the next 12 months.


All of our client’s products are designed in the UK and produced in their own factories in the UK and the Far East. This ensures that their designs are exclusive and their products are of the highest quality, with high standards maintained throughout the whole supply chain.   They partner with leading logistics providers in terms of stock imported into the UK from their factories in the Far East.   Efulfilment of online orders from their website to B2C customers is undertaken via national parcels carriers.


The Management Account will play a key role working closely with the Managing Director and the senior management team including Logistics & Buying Director and Merchandising Director, providing financial advice, support and challenge as part of the decision-making processes including tactical planning and decisions.


You will take full responsibility with the Managing Director and the senior team to ensure continuous improvements in Variable and Fixed Costs and logistics, efulfilment and operational KPIs.   You will own the logistics inventory book including raw materials and stock receipting.  You will also be responsible for monitoring freight and customs costs in relation to imported product and also logistics costs via parcels carriers.  You will update records and challenge the numbers where required.  You will produce daily, weekly and monthly logistics and efulfilment operational statistics, with true ownership and understanding of the numbers.


Specifically, you ensure clarification and understanding of operational and business performance, helping to drive the consistent application of accounting policies & procedures and budget control/ accountability with individual functional and departmental teams on site.



The Role:

  • Cover purchase requests, goods receipting, accounts payable queries as well as other additional duties to ensure timely and accurate reports can be run for the company.
  • Ensure the period Close timetable is adhered to.
  • Provide relevant and accurate management information to the Managing Director, Senior Management and their teams.
  • Production of timely and accurate financial information meets specified deadlines and formats.
  • Ensuring integrity of the plant accounting records and assets and liabilities.
  • Compile robust and accurate forecasts and budgets.
  • Compliance with statutory and company requirements in respect of the reporting of results, assets and liabilities.
  • Develop partnership with the Managing Director to enable the delivery of operational and financial objectives.
  • Assist the senior management team in delivery of a logistics operational excellence initiative.
  • Active involvement and contribution to the continuous improvement process within the operation including the financial evaluation of forecasts and the decision-making processes and the monitoring of progress.
  • Support the operation with compliance for auditing and day to day activities.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Educated to minimum A level or University Degree.
  • Qualified CIMA or ACCA.
  • Experience as a Management Accountant at a large B2C Operational or Logistics/Distribution/eFulfilment/eCommerce delivery operation using parcels carriers.
  • Previous logistics/process accounting experience, including detailed stock/inventory accounting.
  • Experience ideally gained within a large national or multinational environment
  • Strong business acumen and track record within a private sector commercial environment.
  • Confident, highly visible communication and relationship building style.
  • Be a pro-active member of the plant management team, providing expert support and ad-hoc business and operational analysis.
  • This role would not suit someone who wishes to be desk bound, rather it would suit someone who wishes to be an active member of the leadership and management team, out and about on the site working/engaging with the team
  • Able to demonstrate high level of written and numerical literacy, with strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good management, organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to identify and drive process change and improvement
